The Day

Posted in poetry, prose on September 22, 2010 by Shadow

I was up and ready for another day.

Another day where the faces passed me by, and the pervasion of looks would drive the pressures in my heart to the extremes of the ends of the earth.

Another day where the time I spent focusing on what was important, was known to no one else in the world, for no one existed in my life.

I was up and ready to engage the challenges knowing, knowing all to well what they would think, what they would do.

I would teeter on the edge of insanity while I thought of the possibilities, while I would teeter on the edge of insanity, knowing dreams could never come true.

My time had come and gone, my chances had been thrown before me, and I was defeated with shame and my hopes had been dashed; time had passed me by and I was doomed to live out the regret of knowing I lost her, that the mental disfigurement, the physical deformities, the monster I became would haunt the fabric of my time worn soul forever.

Who could ever love me now…?

I was up and ready for another day.

Burning Home

Please cool night, quench the fumes
And smother the red heat
Where sleep is the only boon
Before the footsteps signal terror

Why do my eyes must fixate
Upon the thin yellow line
Streaming from the door
Where the rest is darkness
With my blankets curled
Up to my tiny face
Black darkness is safer
Before the footsteps come

Decades later and the dreams
The nightmares, the kicking
Waking from all those years
The fresh open wounds

Amid celestial spheres only
To go, kicking at nothing again
Eventually the cornered tiger bites
Yet the monster’s gone, never to be seen

Left with my memory
For love, a thin soul
Wide eyed and hungry
Chewing my nails remembering
How fast I ran from the burning home

In the Distance

Posted in poetry with tags on September 15, 2010 by Shadow

Through tall trees thick
A trodden path dissipates
Worn by time forgotten of
Bold souls from the past

A crisp air penetrates
The warm vision I have
Drenching morning sun
Peering between the needles

Stillness, the scene pointless
Until my pulse heightens
I’ve caught sight of you
Deep in the distance

Like the scattered fragments
Of some unfinished puzzle
You piece me together
And the finished picture shows

How lost I am without you
